Christmas Light Installation in Sterling, VA

Rooflines, entries and trees on Sterling homes, from Sugarland Run to Cascades. One price, start to finish.

Lighting a house in Sterling.

Sterling was built in stages, and you can read them on the roofs. Sugarland Run and the older parts of town are full of split foyers: a low, wide house with the front door halfway between two floors and a single long roofline across the top. Countryside and Cascades came later, with two-story colonials and townhouse rows. Each of those calls for a different layout, so we do not bring a stock one. We look at which kind of house you have and design to that.

The split foyer is the one people most often get wrong. The roof is long and fairly shallow, so a single gutter line looks thin on it, and the entry is recessed in the middle of the front where it is easy to leave dark. A good split-foyer design runs the full length of the roof, then brings light down to the entry and the steps so the door has something around it. On the colonials it is the reverse. The roof has height and gables to work with, and the job is keeping the spacing even across every plane.

We work throughout Sterling and the area around it, including Sugarland Run, Countryside, Cascades, Potomac Falls and the neighborhoods off Route 7, Route 28 and Cascades Parkway.

What we plan around here

Three things about Sterling houses.

Split foyers

A long shallow roof and a recessed entry. The run covers the full roofline and comes down to light the door and the steps.

Two-story colonials

More height and more gables. Each plane is measured on its own so the spacing stays even all the way across.

Close to home

Sterling is a short drive from our base in Herndon. A bulb out in December is a quick fix, and it costs you nothing.
