Christmas Light Installation in McLean, VA
Rooflines, trees and walkways on McLean homes, from Langley to Kent Gardens. One price, start to finish.
Lighting a house in McLean.
Most McLean houses sit a long way back from the road, and that distance is the thing a holiday display here has to beat. A run of retail mini lights along a gutter, fifteen feet up and eighty feet back, has faded to a thin line by the time it reaches the sidewalk. It is why so many houses on these streets look under-lit from the road even though somebody spent a weekend getting them up. We use commercial-grade C9 bulbs, which are a great deal bigger than anything sold at a hardware store, on line cut to fit the run. Bulb size is what carries across a deep front lawn.
The roofs are the other half of it. The brick colonials and the newer stone-front builds going up between them carry two and three stories of gable, dormer and side wing, so a layout that looks right on one plane looks unfinished on the next one over. Every plane gets measured before anyone quotes a number, and the design comes back to you drawn on a photograph of your own house. You see exactly which lines we are following before you agree to anything.
We work throughout McLean and the area around it, including Langley, Chesterbrook, Salona Village, Kent Gardens, McLean Hamlet, Franklin Park and the streets off Old Dominion Drive and Georgetown Pike.
What we plan around here
Three things about McLean houses.
Deep setbacks
A house eighty feet off the road needs a bigger bulb, not more small ones. The run is sized to the distance it has to be seen from.
Front-yard hardwoods
The mature oaks and maples in these yards are usually the best thing on the property. Wrapping two of them does more for the street view than another roofline peak.
Long walks and drives
Ground lighting along a driveway or front walk gives the house a foreground. Without it a lit roof floats above a dark lawn.
